Château Sociando Mallet

Château Sociando Mallet : Actual property of Jean Gautreau, former wine broker, Château Sociando-Mallet is located in the village of Saint Seurin de Cadourne. Its name comes from two former owners: a basque family called Sossiondo (that will lead to Sociando due to a wrong spelling of the name) who owned the property around 1630 ; and Mme Mallet, widow, who owned it around 1850. Many Bordeaux wine brokers succeeded at the head of the estate until Jean Gautreau bought it in 1969. He bought many chosen plots to get to the 90 hectares of today. Each plot reveals the potential of its own vine, cabernet franc, merlot or cabernet sauvignon. A strict selection (the vines have to be older than 10 years) and a long fermentation allow this wine to be kept for a long time once it’s bottled. The Château Sociando Mallet also produces a second wine, La Demoiselle de Sociando Mallet that comes from the youngest vine of the domain and has for symbol – La Demoiselle – a kind of dragonfly from Médoc, full of elegance and lightness…
